Our Story

Our story begins circa the 2020’s along with the uncertainty of the world's ups, downs, and wishful thinking of our founder, who had been interested in the coffee ever since first traveled to the United States and experienced an actual coffee culture by first hand back at 2010. 8 years forward, a new coffee movement starts developing in the D.R. and our founder started to reconnect with the Dominican coffee tradition from the countryside and notice the shift occurring in the urban coffee culture. Our company's name is a wordplay that was inspired by the classic French saying « Déjà Vu », as in « already seen », and the verb « Brew », as in « brewing » evoking the classic tradition of the baristas and those involved in the coffee world.

Forward 2 years, and amid global pandemics, a young dreamer from Santo Domingo named Hector Encarnación joined the movement that started to integrate the country's coffee tradition in the urban scene and dared to open a coffee developing & trading company. After starting the company in 2020, the startup has started to develop itself on planned stages, being trading the first stage in Déjà Brew's roadmap. Our company’s main goal is to « Elevate the Dominican Coffee Tradition », thought this sounds perfect on paper, it takes a lot of synergy between the agents involved at work, ideally, 3 great things: Time, Cooperation & Assertive Governance, these also take a lot of time.

Déjà Brew Café® has expansion plans on to the US, UK, Asia & Europe in the middle to long term, but our main operations will be located in the Dominican Republic. We came to exist because we see the need for a space or place in which we can promote a more empowering approach to both the farmers and the consumers. We’re committed to what we do, which is: to elevate and nurture the Dominican tradition one filtered coffee at a time.
